Melbourne Ceiling Insulation

Welcome to Douglas Insulation.

I've been an Insulation Installer in Melbourne for the last 20 years, so there's not much I haven't seen inside a roof cavity. I've also seen how much Ceiling insulation has improved over that time. The efficiency has doubled and the cost has stayed pretty much the same, whether you're having Earthwool or Polyester insulation installed.

Earthwool Insulation is one the most effective and efficient ways to lower the cost of your household bills, reduce the carbon footprint and improve your household quality of life (it’s a comfort thing, who doesn’t like to be warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer?). It also boasts the shortest payback timeframe of any energy efficiency measure that you can install in your home, so it’s a sound financial investment as well.

The payback period is half the time of Solar PV, and one fifth of the time of installing Double Glazed windows. That’s not to say that those things aren’t important as well, they are, it just makes a lot more sense to upgrade your insulation first; that way you start saving straight away for the least upfront cost.

If your Melbourne ceiling insulation is more than 15-20 years old, there’s a high likelihood that it’s doing almost nothing to insulate your home.

There are a few different reasons for this:

Old fibreglass batts settle over time. Once this occurs, the performance of the insulation is drastically reduced by about 80 percent.

Insulation Batts are gaining extra thickness, more density and a higher R value (Thermal resistance) all the time. If your insulation is more than 15 years old, it is only half the value of the batts we install today!

When considering getting new insulation, remember the cost is low and the benefit is high. It just makes sense.

Power bills have risen over 40% in Melbourne over the last decade. And they are expected to rise by another 14% in 2018!

Just by insulating your home you can reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 30%, which is huge, but despite this, up to 70% of existing homes are under-insulated, especially those built before 1995.

The cost to insulate a home is cheap in comparison to the homes' total value, only around 0.3% in most cases. And it makes a great investment to bring the cost of living down with lower utility bills.

Yes, it’s true, ceiling insulation can save you thousands. We use and recommend KNAUF insulation for ceiling installs.
